Patrimony

Angled detail shot of the silver embossed label and medallion on a Patrimony Black Label wine bottle.

Patrimony Estate rises from the Adelaida District on Daou Mountain, an expression of vision and terroir from the Daou brothers (of DAOU Vineyards). Their mission: to produce California “first‐growth” wines that rival the greatest of the world, through Bordeaux-style varietals grown in exceptional conditions.

Pursue Perfection

Patrimony began with a bold premise: that Paso Robles could produce wines to rival the world’s most celebrated estates. That level of ambition demands equal conviction in design. This project was the creation of a visual legacy.

We approached the project with patience and intent, allowing space for deep ideation and exploration. Early conversations centered around heritage, discipline, and the sense of permanence that defines great wine labels. Sketches evolved into structured concepts, and concepts into considered artwork. Every detail had to stand for something. Every decision required a purpose.

The artwork itself became the heart of the labels. Sculptural, emblematic, and worthy of the estate’s philosophy, it was carefully developed through rounds of refinement and close collaboration. Embossed layers, carved relief, and controlled gilding give the label dimension and emotional weight. The palette remains disciplined — deep black, ivory, and metallic accents — ensuring the wine commands presence without sacrificing elegance. Typography is clean, timeless, and grounded, supporting the artwork rather than competing with it.

This project reflects the core of our philosophy at Kraftwerk Design: listen deeply, explore widely, obsess over the unseen details, and build brands that feel enduring. Patrimony’s label is the result of vision paired with craft. It is the product of long consideration, shared ambition, and trust in a creative process built on excellence.

Digitizing a masterpiece

Objective

To design a website worthy of Patrimony’s ambition — one that communicates premium positioning, exceptional quality and deep sense of place. The goal was to give Patrimony an online presence that reflects its elite status. The site needed to support its select audience, and deliver brand clarity through story and detail.

Solution

We created a high-end digital platform with clear pathways for discovery of vineyards, winemaking, and releases. With refined typography and white space we allowed the wines and labels to take the forefront and show their elegance. The site architecture supports the Patrimony narrative, while visually aligning with the high expectations of its clientele and the brand’s “first-growth” positioning.
