Wine & spirits / Kraftwerk

Wine branding, packaging & websites

Brand strategy, packaging, winery websites and ecommerce. From San Luis Obispo, we help wine and spirits producers connect their brand across bottle, tasting room and screen.

One brand, wherever people meet your wine

Your label, packaging and website should tell the same story. We connect those decisions so customers can recognize your winery on a shelf, in a tasting room and when they buy online.

Kraftwerk works with wine and spirits producers in Paso Robles, San Luis Obispo and beyond. Our work starts with what makes the producer and the product distinct.

Clients we build for

Wine branding services, from positioning to purchase

  1. 01

    Brand strategy & identity

Research, discovery, positioning, naming and visual identity. We define the story and design language your winery can use across labels, collateral, its tasting room and digital channels.

  2. 02

    Wine labels & packaging

Label design, illustration, packaging and print production sourcing. We consider the range as a whole: how wines relate, how releases stay recognizable and how the design works with your materials and production needs.

  3. 03

    Winery website design & development

Websites that bring your brand and wines into focus. We plan clear routes to wine information, tasting visits and club membership, then design and build the site with a CMS your team can update.

    Wine ecommerce & Commerce7

Direct-to-consumer ecommerce and Commerce7 integration, designed around your wines and how customers shop. For an existing store, a conversion audit can help identify where the buying experience needs attention.

Patrimony: world-class ambition, down to the details

The Daou brothers created Patrimony to make Paso Robles wines that rival the world's great estates. We brought that ambition to the labels, packaging and website. Sculptural artwork, embossed detail and a restrained palette define the bottle, with a website that carries the same care into the online experience.

Our approach

Design for how your winery works

Wine branding needs to work across a changing range of products and a mix of sales channels. A new vintage, a club release or a tasting-room promotion should feel like part of the same winery without making every bottle or page identical.

Start with the range and the audience

We look at what you sell, who you sell to and where customers meet your brand. That gives the design a practical foundation, whether the project is a new identity, a label refresh or a website for an established winery.

Make packaging decisions together

Typography, illustration, label dimensions, stock and finish affect how a bottle reads and how it is produced. We consider those choices together with your production needs, rather than treating print as the last step.

Connect the website to the buying experience

A winery website has several jobs: explain the wines, communicate the place, help visitors plan a tasting and support direct sales. Clear product information and navigation matter as much as photography. We connect website design and ecommerce so the move from discovering a wine to buying it feels consistent.

If your current store needs attention, our winery ecommerce audit examines the buying experience before you decide what to change.

Plan the work around your next release

A new winery, a growing range and an established brand have different needs. We start by agreeing what the project needs to solve and which parts belong in the scope.

  1. 01

    Understand the winery

Review your story, audience, wine range and existing materials. Identify what should carry forward and what needs to change.

  2. 02

    Define the design

Develop the direction for the agreed scope, from brand identity and labels to website structure and the ecommerce experience.

  3. 03

    Bring it into use

Prepare packaging for production or build the website and its integrations. Review the work in the context where customers and your team will use it.

FAQ

Questions about wine branding & winery websites

A few places to start when you are planning a winery design project.

  • What does a wine branding project include?

The scope can include research and positioning, naming, visual identity, wine labels, packaging, printed collateral and digital design. It depends on whether you are launching a producer, refreshing an existing brand or adding to a wine range. We agree the deliverables around that need.

  • Can you update our labels or website without replacing our brand?

Yes. A label or website project can build on an established identity. We review the elements customers already recognize and decide where clearer hierarchy, updated design or a more consistent system would help.

  • Do you design winery ecommerce websites with Commerce7?

Yes. Kraftwerk provides winery website design, development and Commerce7 integration for direct-to-consumer wine sales. J. LOHR and Bethel Rd. are examples in our project portfolio. We review your store, club and visitor needs when defining the website scope.

  • Do you also work with spirits brands?

Yes. Our wine and spirits work includes brand identity, labels, packaging and websites. The Bethel Rd. Distillery project shows how those services come together for a Paso Robles spirits producer.

  • Where is Kraftwerk based, and which wineries do you work with?

Kraftwerk is a branding and design agency in San Luis Obispo on California's Central Coast. We work with producers in Paso Robles and San Luis Obispo, as well as wine regions beyond the Central Coast. Our portfolio includes projects for wineries and distilleries.

  • What should we prepare before discussing a project?

Bring your current labels or website, the wines or products involved, your goals and any release or production dates the work needs to support. For a website, include your ecommerce platform and the tasks customers and staff need to complete. Those details help define a useful scope.
